Prepped
Prepped is an app that allows students taking the GRE & GMAT to improve their scores through bitesized vocabulary activities.
Project Brief
Studying for the GRE & GMAT isn't exactly quick. or fun.
It requires an enormous amount of time, focus, and dedicated, deep dive study sessions.

What if we could help test takers improve their scores in more manageable study sessions?

Improving vocabulary is one aspect of the test that is most suited for quick study sessions that can drastically improve scores over time.
How might we
set first time users up for success, get them into their first vocab lesson, and give them an immediate sense of progress & momentum?
Solution
In this case study, I'll highlight prototypes and interactions designed to make quick study sessions clear, rewarding, and effective.

-
Create a seamless onboarding experience for new users.
-
Offer well-timed hints to help users study more effectively.
-
Encourage progress and momentum, and celebrate new achievements.

UI Desinger

Tools
Proto.io, Figma, FigJam
Outlining Interactions
Working with an initial set of static screens, I outlined key interactions, state changes, and steps required in the onboarding flow.
After outlining all the interactions within the prototype, my next step was to ensure that all micro-interactions were properly implemented. It was important to me that both the onboarding and learning experiences were seamless and hassle-free for users.

Highlights
-
Streamlined Onboarding: Set daily goals and exam dates for better focus.
-
Daily Email Reminders: Receive helpful reminders via email.
-
Opt-Out Feature: Easily unsubscribe from daily reminders.
-
Improved Loading Experience: Introduced skeleton screens for smoother navigation.
Multiple Choice Questions
After nailing down the smooth onboarding process, my next task was to create an exciting journey through multiple-choice questions. It was all about making sure students could really get into the groove of practicing before their big exams.
How might we
design quick, effective, and standardized responses to multiple choice questions?
I created rough sketches in which I was trying to find the right design solution for the following question:
How can we provide useful, well-timed hints to users on multiple choice questions?

Final Thoughts
Since I work in the EdTech industry and possess a deep understanding of its dynamics, my aim was to create a learning app to help students succeed in upcoming exams, including GRE and GMAT, through bite-sized vocabulary activities. My goal was to integrate gamification elements into the user journey, ensuring that the learning and practice process is engaging and motivational.

Another goal was to explore beyond the conventional prototyping tool, which is Figma, and experiment with Proto.io. Through this example, I wanted to emphasize that as UX designers, we're not limited to using Figma exclusively. Proto.io offers unique prototyping and animation features not yet available on Figma, and some processes are more streamlined and efficient with Proto.io.

The animations shown above are not the final product. My goal is to continue refining the user journeys and adding more features to the app before handing it over to the developer.
